a heavy heart....

sometimes you meet people who make definite impressions on your heart and on your life. you can meet them and just know that you will be friends. that something "clicks" and you have things in common.

heather is that kind of person. she and i met a few years ago when i started playing bunko with the group she is in. my friend (and former classmate/roommate), kim, asked me to sub one night and i ended up joining! anyway - - - heather went to JA and knew tommy, so i had heard of her even though i didn't know her personally.

{me and heather - june 2008}

to say that she has had more than her share of trials in life is an understatement. i won't go into details - and she would never want you to pity her - but i'm so thankful that she knows the Lord, because i have no idea how she would get through some of the things she has gone through without Him.

i was at mistletoe yesterday working for shana at her booth when heather came up to me. it was SO good to see her! we always plan to meet up for lunch or coffee, but we never get the chance.... time slips away! not to mention her 2 children and my 1....

she had a look on her face that let me know something was wrong. she then said, "i want to tell you something before you hear it from someone else." i didn't know what to expect. and then...."i'm having surgery next thursday. there are spots bilateral on my ovaries and it doesn't look good." i just sat there and stared. what???

i said, "they don't think it's cancer, do they?" and she replied, "they aren't 100% sure, but it is leaning that way. they are going to do a full hysterectomy."

ya'll, all i wanted to know is 1) how can someone go through ONE. MORE. TRIAL. and 2) when/where/etc so that i can be there.

i'm posting this WITH HER PERMISSION to ask for prayers!!!

~pray for the doctors that will be performing the surgery. for their homes this week - that things are calm and they are not stressed with non-medical issues that would enable them to focus on heather's surgery. for their hands as they perform the surgery. for their eyes - that they will be able to see exactly what needs to be seen.

~pray for the nurses that will be aiding the doctors during surgery. for all of the same reasons as the doctors

~pray for heather's friends. that we will all respond to needs and show "agape" (unconditional love) through this time! that we will not wait until we are asked to do something or help out - we will just do it!

{kim, heather, and me after parker was born - july 2009}

~pray for heather's mom (her dad passed away when she was a baby). for peace as she watches her only child face another battle. for her heart - that the Lord will guard it and help her through this time. for her husband, heather's step-dad - that he will know what to say when her mom needs him.

~pray for heather's precious children, mallory and parker. that they will know their mama loves them more than anything. that they understand that mama will be a little sore and need a little help with things - especially mallory since parker is only a year old! and just for comfort. i can't imagine how scary this could be for a child!

{mallory and parker - july 2009}

~pray for heather. as she faces this in the next week. that the Lord will prepare her heart for the upcoming weeks. that she will have a peace about the outcome regardless of what it is knowing that it is part of His will for her life. that she will know how many people are here for her regardless of the time on the clock. that she will not try to be self-sufficient in the needs that she will have.

thank you, blog friends, for praying for my sweet friend. i will keep you updated!
