Goin' to the chapel!

today, tommy, mp, and i went to natchez for the wedding reception of a good friend of mine, dana.  you know the mccarty sale that i go to every year?  the one where i sleep in my car for a few nights?  yeah - she's the one crazy enough to go with me!  and believe me, sleeping in a car together, you get to know each other really well!

anyway - she and tommy (her tommy - not mine!) have been together for a long time.  i've told her that she was crazy and asked why she didn't demand a wedding of some sort.  when i say a long time, i'm talking something like 13 years!  but i am not in her shoes and i do have to say that all of this has come together perfectly for their family.

they were married at a beautiful antibellum home in natchez - "auburn".  the wedding was strictly immediate family.  the reception was an hour after the wedding and included some more family and a handful of close friends.

these are just a few pictures that were taken with my phone - i have some on my camera as well, but i have not downloaded them yet.

the cake was SO SO good!  and before it's asked, no i didn't make it...

dana had a few of the little girls that she was going to just throw her flowers to because there were only a few older girls who were there and not married and they didn't want to do it.  i told mpb that she was going to stand and mrs. dana would throw the flowers so she could try to catch them.  well - she just started following dana around and said, "mrs. dana, i want those flowers...".  so who could resist that?  dana just gave them to her and they are now in my kitchen.  she was so proud!

of course this was followed by: "mommy, when you and daddy get married, i'm going to catch your flowers, too!"  "mommy, when i get married, i want pink flowers to carry with my princess dress."  "mommy, when i marry ryan goolsby, bryce, and will skipper, i am going to wear a diamond ring like your's and you can have a star ring, okay?"

this is when i looked at tommy and said, "and THIS is why a wedding day is the bride's.  because from the time you are 3 years old, you are thinking of the things you want when YOU are the princess."  he followed this up with "she's not ever getting married."  i wish i didn't have to blink......

mpb and my sweet friend dana - she was absolutely beautiful.

congrats, dana and tommy!  we love you lots!

Every girl dreams of her "one day" Prince Charming. MPB just has a real life one already.

Tell Tommy he better start saving for you a bigger rock if you are going to have to hand over your ring to her to get married.

love Auburn! very pretty..I grew up 20 minutes from Natchez and know all the homes like the back of my hand! You and Tommy should check out the Spring pilgrimage and carry MPB. Stay at the Briars and go to the confederate pageant one night. She'll be in hog heaven looking at all the dresses!
