i wouldn't exactly call it a "talent" because i'm not great at it, but i AM proud of it!
here it is: SMOCKING!!!

last week when dana and i went to the mccarty's sale, my cousins joined us (my dad's 1st cousin, janet, and her daughter, britt). janet has smocked for years and is so so talented! well - she offered to teach dana and me! i've been working on mine off and on this week and finished it today after church!!!!! janet is getting material and is going to sew the insert into a dress.
it's addictive. i've already bought another smocking plate (that's what the patterns are called) and am going to start it tonight!
maybe i'll save our family a little money doing this instead of buying them!!!!!

Oh my goodness! Very impressive. Is it hard?
I commented somwhere at how impressed I was with your smocking...but I don't see it anymore. So I'm sayin' it again.
Also enjoyed McAllisters with you last night.
ooohhh...I had never thought of making them myself...
you did a great job!
That looks great!! Maybe instead of buying them, you could eventually sell them.. Good job, Nikki
You are the hobby queen. Cakes, blogs, sale shopping, not to mention church stuff and your "real" job, now smocking... How do you find the time?!?!?!?
Cool - so by the time Mark and I have kids, you're gonna be a pro and can do all of my little girls' dresses!
