a few weeks ago, mpb said that she had a "bo-bo" and needed a band-aid. considering we had used band-aids for quite a while, i asked her if she wanted a "yardigans" (her version of backyardigans) or dora. she chose dora.
we put it on the little area that she said had a "bo-bo" and she wouldn't let us take it off that night. so the next afternoon we took it off. i didn't really think that was too long - i know i've left band-aids on longer than that on me!!!
anyway, this is what happened. and it was on both sides where the band-aid attached...i just added one picture (i think you get the point...)

it didn't happen right away.....but got worse as the days went on. this picture was taken on feb 24th. you can still see the area now, but it's not red at all.
i called her dr and was told to put hydrocortisone cream on it. we did. and it helped. i talked to a patient of mine who is a doctor and he said that your body becomes allergic over time - that it doesn't happen the first time you use them. i told him that we had used this same brand forever. he said that he would recommend changing brands.
great. so now i guess i'll have to tell everyone who cares for her even what "kind" of band-aid to use. of course i don't want one used at all unless absolutely necessary!!!!!

Yep! Banana and I can't even wear "regular" bandaids! It's the latex. NO latex for us.
When Banana was a baby, she couldn't wear those plastic "wipeable" bibs either. Same problem.
That is so strange!!
I am glad she didn't have a worse reaction!
Caleb's skin did a similar thing I think last May. Except for his was not only like that but also had really bad blistering.
The same thing happens to me if I put a band aid anywhere on my tummy.
I have no stories about how this happened to me or to anyone I know. I am, however, sad it happened to MP. Bless her baby heart!!
Also...WHY, oh why did you add that word verification thing down there? I really hate those things.
Poor baby!! That does not look like it felt very pleasant! Give her a kiss from me!
i'm allergic too...though i figured it out after getting one of those nasty burns like that... ouch.. hope she is ok!
