o.k. so i'm asking for YOUR input to help pick our vacation destination. let me give you the run-down of the 3 choices for vacation of the year.....
1ST NOMINEE.....EASTERN CARIBBEAN CRUISE
we LOVE cruises - i've been on 5 and tommy's been on 4 - oh...and mary peyton's been on 1. yes, we've already taken her on a cruise - she was 15 months old. and it was the perfect vacation for us. we were able to go to the cabin when it was naptime, go to eat when she was hungry, swim, etc., etc. the cruise staff loved her. we swore that we'd go on a cruise every year until she was old enough to go to disney world. seriously - it was that good. this one goes to st martin, st thomas, san juan, and turkes/caicos. i've never been to any of those places.....
2ND NOMINEE.....NEW YORK
tommy and i went to new york for 9 days before we got pregnant. we stayed with some friends in new jersey and would take the bus in every morning. we had a ball! granted if we take mary peyton, we know it will not be exactly like it was when it was the 2 of us, but we could go to museums, central park, the statue of liberty, etc., etc. we would avoid broadway, but that's o.k. we can go back later for that. oh - and we've already priced this and it's crazy how cheap we all 3 could fly and stay for 6 nights - of course we'd stay at a hotel in the meadowlands (3 miles from manhattan in new jersey) and we'd be 1 mile from giants stadium!!! plus, our vacation is in october, so the giants might be at home that weekend. oooohhhhh - - - - - tempting!!!!!
3RD NOMINEE.....WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA
dawson's creek.....one tree hill......both filmed in wilmington. we went there in 2003 for our vacation. dawson's creek had just wrapped up and one tree hill (the spin off) was being filmed. this might be our all time favorite vacation spot. an old town. on the cape fear river. neat historical sites. michael jordan is from here - we ate at "whitey's"...a resturant where he worked. beautiful old homes. did i mention that the beach is only 5 minutes away? we LOVE it here.
so here are the places we've talked about so far. the only "con" to the cruise and north carolina is that our vacation is in OCTOBER and i'm a little concerned about hurricaines. i mean - i know you can't control everything and all that, but i would like to actually go where i plan to go, you know?
if you have somewhere else you think we ought to consider, leave a comment. but be warned.....we're not "big" on running down to the beach. we like it, but if we can go off somewhere for about the same price, that's usually what we do!
the poll closes march 1st at midnight that morning. HELP ME OUT!!!

I voted for the cruise, but I am always gonna go with the sun and sand if given a choice.
Fill me in...
How does a cruise work with a toddler? Can you still do dinner in the dining rooms or do you just eat on the Lido Deck. We've done one cruise but not sure how it would work with Jonah?
i'm gonna have to go with the cruise simply because it's somewhere you've never been before. I love to go new places!
I voted for North Carolina simply because I don't like New York and I think cruise ships are scary.
That said...my all time vacation pick is Colorado. But you didn't mention that one.
I want to know specifics about the cruise b/c we were thinking of going for our 10 year anniversary...where did you get prices? how much?
Disney World
I would normally say New york, b/c well its new york and you could go and see a lot of shows, but with a toddler the shows would be very limited. so I will say a Cruise. I have never been on one, but have heard they are a blast.
1. I'm afraid I would get sick on a cruise, unless it's a Disney Cruise. Best of both worlds.
2. Of course I would say Disney World, because...well, you know why.
3. North Carolina would be beautiful but beaches in October could be bad.
4. So, I'm going with New York or Disney World. New York in the fall is gorgeous, and you can't miss with Disney World. Have I not made you want to GO? Plus you get me thrown in as a tour guide/Mary Peyton Handler. Just saying.
I would say New York. To me the hurrican threat is to risky-I would hate to have my vacation screwed up.
And Wilmington is cold in October so the beach wouldn't be all that great I don't think...it is a beautiful city (I lived in NC for 4 years) but to me NYC would have a lot more to do and be a better vacation.
oh, I say be spontaneous...do something different. I'm with some of the others...beaches on the mainland in October--ugh... below Miami...why not! New York...always fabulous! NC...usually fabulous...but you've been there. Disney...fabulous...just not sure I would do it with MPB this little unless you could go for a FULL week. Then I'd still probably think twice...too stressful for me just cause I don't deal well with that much dependence trying to see and do lots in a short amount of time. That's just me though. Y'all have a blast where ever you choose!
my vote is the cruise! i've never been on a cruise, never been to disney world. never been to new york, never been to wilmington. hmmm. maybe i should get out more. we just always go to the beach! :)
