my study this summer....

tommy and i started teaching in the youth department at our church last summer. and we LOVE it! i mean really love it! i have 2 girls in my class (yeah - i'm not quite sure how that worked out - there are lots of 11th grade guys, but only 2 "regular" 11th grade girls. that gives the girls pretty good odds, huh?) and i fiercely love them. no really. i am protective of them in the same sort of way that i am protective of mary peyton. ok - obviously it's a little different because they aren't truly my children, but i don't want to see them done wrong in any way or fashion!

let me tell you....when you start working in a different department than what you were always in (young married's), you get COMPLETELY out of the loop. i mean - there are people that i find myself wondering if they still go to our church! and this is because we are ALWAYS at the annex (the additional building that houses some of our church offices and where our singles/students meet) and not on the main church campus!

for 8 years, our sunday's were filled with lessons led by this guy...

oh wait.......that's not a good one! that's when papa g (mary peyton's name for geno) was a little tiffed at the rebels last year.....poor nathan - just look at the way he is looking at his dear ole dad.....

ok - here's another one....

wait, wait, wait!!! not so good, either! this was during the parents vs students softball game with solid ground (what we call our youth department). the sad part is that when we pulled into the parking lot and saw geno's truck, tommy said, "oh no. don't they know that geno and sports DO NOT MIX!?!". you see, back, oh some 10 years ago now, geno broke his ankle just in time for our wedding playing basketball with tommy and some other guys at church. bless his heart he's just accident prone....

ok, really....let's find a good one of the guy who was our fearful leader for 8 years!

ok - maybe mary peyton makes this one better! this was at the JA carnival. please note the black eye(s) that papa g is sporting in this picture. reference the picture above and you have the culprit!

ANYWAY...

this summer i don't have to get to listen to geno teach us (please, please, please know that i'm joking here - we loved being in his class and went through a mourning period when it was over!!!) BUT - i get his unbelievable sidekick, partner in crime, better half, love of his life, wonderful wife, mother of two awesome boys, MY precious friend and mentor - LISA (mama lisa to mary peyton)!

oh yes, my friends! i am going on a journey with some 16 or so other women to become more brave in who God created us to be! while the youth are spending the summer with their families doing some amazing things, i will spend it with other women growing in our walk!

we met last night for our first night and have such a wonderful, diverse group! we range in age and stages of life and I CANNOT WAIT to go through this!

of course i'll miss this sunday (father's day - gotta head to the delta to see my daddy!) and another sunday, but i can easily get the dvd and catch up!

i just wanted to share this with ya'll! i'll let you know how good it feels to be BRAVE! =)
