a few years ago, a patient of mine asked me if i had gotten the book the blind side about ole miss' left tackle, michael oher. i had not, but he told me that i HAD to get it. that weekend while we were in oxford, we went straight to square books and i got it.

i finished this book in no time and was so intrigued by the story behind it. when the movie came out, we saw it 2 or 3 times. mary peyton even went to see it. and loved it.
i will be honest - i would LOVE to be able to do for a child what the tuohy's have been able to do. i think it would be one of the most rewarding things ever. and a few friends said that they could see us doing that (not knowing how much i would truly love to). what a compliment! if only i had the funds to be able to do it.....
last summer, sean and leigh anne tuohy put out their book, in a heartbeat. mary peyton and i went to lemuria for the book signing. ironically that day had been "wear your favorite team colors" to school and mary peyton had worn her JA cheerleader skirt with her eli manning ole miss football jersey. so when we got up to meet the tuohy's, mary peyton looked at them and said, "you're michael oher's mama and daddy! hotty toddy!" sean laughed and said, "yeah, we are getting that a lot lately!". leigh anne said, "aren't you just precious!".
we briefly talked football while they were signing the book and when we walked off and i looked, leigh anne had written
"to tommy, suzanne, and mary peyton
hotty toddy!
leigh anne &
sean tuohy"
(side note: for those who don't know, sean played basketball at ole miss and leigh anne was a cheeleader for the rebels. so michael going to ole miss to play football wasn't their only rebel connection!)
i haven't gotten to read this book, but it is next in my line up (unless the book below this one wins out)!!! i'll let you know how it is!

now there is another book that came out last week. i got it today. and from what i have read from people already reading it, it will be a hard one to put down!
michael has put into this book his side of the story - i beat the odds. he has been traveling all over having book signings and interviews. unfortunately none of them have been around here, although he WILL be in oxford on tuesday. wish we could be there!
like i said with in a heartbeat, i will let you know what i think about it!
