when i was little, it seems like we got snow more often than we do now. well, i'd better take that back - we've gotten a lot of snow this year!
anyway, we always made snow ice cream when it snowed. i loved it. i can remember mama or grandmama making it and how good it was. i made some in 2001 during that snow (which, by the way, was THE BEST way for tommy and me to start our first full year together and the year of our wedding!).
when we found out it was going to snow, i got all of the necessary ingredients for the snow ice cream "just in case". so glad i did! here is the progression of our snow ice cream......
i set out some bowls to catch fresh snow. when they were about half way full, i took my gravy ladle and scooped the softest, most fresh snow from the top....
then, i took in the largest bowl.......i got all of the other ingredients together and got ready! (the only thing not in this picture is the milk that i used....)
now here's the part that you can't really tell directions to. i don't have measurements or amounts. it was all just "a little of this" and "a little of that" and mixed to taste. aren't those recipes often the best? and here's the finished product - well the first of 3 bowls that i made!
two of the happy people on the eating end of the ice cream!
and then one of all 3 girls! we had such a good time!!!
oh - and i've got containers of snow ice cream in the freezer! if i lived where it snowed much, i'd have tons of it stocked up!

YUM!!! I love snow cream :) The kids get excited about any dusting of snow at all because they know we are going to make some!
Is that a can of Pumpkin? What's in the clean bottle, vanilla?
