Some updates.....

i had several things that i wanted to say, so i decided to put them all in one post....it may make for a long post, but bear with me - all of it is worth while. of course that's my opinion, right?

anyway.....for those of you who have been following my blog for at least 18 months, you have read the sweet story of mary peyton and jeremy. if you are new and haven't read it, please click HERE and you will be able to read. and there's a touching part to the story HERE that may interest you, as well. like i said, if you already know the story, then you have probably read these posts...

i talked to jeremy last night via facebook chat. he is doing well. he said that he has started working out with and doing drills with the team and is hoping to be playing football again in the fall.

can i just tell you how much this touched my heart? to know that God is healing jeremy through such an incredibly hard injury (he tore his acl, pcl, mcl, and had severe nerve damage) and that in some tiny way, the prayers of my then 3 year old/now almost 5 year old are what he still says have played a major part in his healing? to be humbled to see the faith of a child - the child that God has entrusted in me and blessed me with - touch a young man who had the most devastating day of his life happen in front of us?

yes, jeremy is part of our extended family. his mom, mrs charlotte, and i text and e-mail back and forth. their family loves us and we love them. the way mrs charlotte put it when we met, "i just feel the kindred spirit that we share. we are family."

what an incredible blessing they are to us!

and i've told jeremy that regardless of who ole miss is playing that weekend, we will be there for his first game back on the field. his response? "mrs barnette, you don't know how emotional that will be for me. to know that the little angel who has prayed for me is in the stands."

he doesn't know how emotional it will be for us.....

then the next little update - one of my favorite weekends of the year!!!!!

dana and i have been texting back and forth today talking about this:

mainly because when the back of my vehicle looks like that and dana and i look like we do in the picture below, it can only mean one thing....

IT'S TIME FOR THE MCCARTY SALE!!!!!!!

hallelujah and sound the trumpets! our 5th annual girls trip to the delta.

it's just kind of an understood thing now that we will be together that weekend. and we will be eating one night at crawdad's in merigold, probably eat one meal at a la carte in cleveland, more than likely eat donuts from delta cream one morning, and then just swing it the rest of the time.

we will laugh, "rough" it (literally sleeping in the back of my car. last year this included a night of storms, a night of hail, and then a night of snow.), talk about everything under the sun, read magazines or books, watch girly movies, maybe smock something (janet taught us how in 2008!), and just enjoy the friendship that has grown over the past 12 years.

THEN - last but most CERTAINLY NOT least.....

mary peyton and i will be going on our 2nd (annual) girls trip to the alluvian!

she can't wait and i can't either. we did this last year and it was our gift to her from us for her birthday. well, as we were laying in the big comfy bed that night, mpb looked at me and said, "mommy....i love you. this is so fun. how 'bout we do this when i turn 5? is that a deal?"

i told her it was a deal and i'm not sure who needs/wants it more - me or her! we will go up on a thursday and spend the night (and have dinner), then go over to the spa the next day for whatever treatments i get us signed up for. we will be home not too long after tommy gets home from work. the way i see it, a thursday night trip make him not realize much of what he's missing since he has to work that friday anyway! right?

{click HERE to read my post about our trip last year...}

so that's it for me for now. i've got some other posts that i'm working on and i hope i'm going to be better in 2010 at blogging. i truly enjoy it, but our internet service is not the best in the world, so it tends to hinder me. maybe i'll work on that sometime soon, too.......who do you have your internet through? ours is at&t. should i change?

let me know!
