i pulled a big suprise!

in a few weeks, i am going to be off for 3 days.

tommy and i have not been anywhere together since before mary peyton was born. this does not count california in october - we WERE by ourselves, but he worked every day, so that doesn't count.....

anyway - i called his old boss, laura, and got her to e-mail his current bosses to see if he could be off work for those same 3 days. i told her to be sure everybody was aware that this is a surprie. they all thought it was awesome - laura called me back the next day and told me that we were good to go.

so i started searching. i went to sites and priced different things. i wanted to go somewhere fun that may be new for one of us - or both. and if one HAD been there, it had to be somewhere that we would want to go back to, for sure!

here's what we'll be seeing in a few weeks....

this is MIAMI!!! more importantly, this is the pool of the hotel we will be staying at! tommy has been to miami before and loved it - i've never been.

i went on travelocity and just looked at different places. then i priced a trip from jackson to miami. imagine my AMAZEMENT when the "travelocity picks" came up and the second pick was just over $300/person! that's roundtrip airfare and hotel for 3 nights (the first pick was at the "trump international" and was a little over $500/person)!!! WHAT!?!?! i went ahead and booked it - fully paid - and figured it would all still be part of my surprise.

how could he not want to go?

so last week we were with some friends and tommy made the comment that he would give anything for us to just have a few days to relax and focus on each other instead of all the responsibilities of life. my heart raced and i knew it was time to tell (i was originally going to tell him the day before we leave....).

before i knew it, i blurted out, "well guess what. we're going to miami in a few weeks. staying 4 days/3 nights. i've already paid for it. i've talked to your bosses and they know everything and are fine with it. i've told our parents. your mom is keeping mary peyton. surprise!"

his mouth was opened in shock!

YEA! mission accomplished!

(oh - and i just looked on travelocity to see what the price would be now....wanna guess???????? the same exact trip - if booked tonight - would be $513/person! now i feel like i got a good deal!)

How fun!!! Drew and I went to Mexico alone when he got back from Iraq. First trip EVER alone in 10 years. The whole time we kept looking at one another going, "Why haven't we done this before?" Don't waste a second of your time together!!

What a beautiful gift to give your husband! All you ever hear about is how so-and so's husband planed a trip or romantic get away. It's nice to read about a wife who gets to plan the big surprise for her husband!I wish I had the means and connections to plan something special for Hugh. I'd love to see the look on his face. -Maybe someday. We have to finish residency first, just a couple more years, and we'll be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Have a wonderful time. ~Blessings!
