this is a picture of mary peyton and one of her favorite people "anduwa" (andrea). andrea has loved on mary peyton since she was born. literally. i can remember being at the practice for the 4th of july program about a month after mary peyton was born. andrea was in a part of the program and mrs. karen (her mom) sat behind me and mpb. it wasn't long and mrs. karen was holding mary peyton and andrea was making a "mad" face - wanting to be back there with us.
over the past 3 years, andrea has always come up to us and loved on my sweet baby girl.
but in a few short months, that will end - at least in frequency.
a lot of my blog readers are church friends of mine - and a lot are not. so for those who are not, here's the story.....
andrea is the youngest daughter of our incredible pastor, mark anderson (so that makes mrs. karen the pastor's wife....if you are trying to follow...). on mother's day night, brother mark announced to the church that he will be preaching in view of a call on june 1st in cape girardeau, missouri - at lynwood baptist church. this is the church that he came from when he came to colonial heights.
my heart fell.
tears fell - from my eyes and tommy's. and lots of other people's, too.
brother mark's last sunday will be july 13th.
brother mark is a man of such incredible integrity. he preaches the Word. period. he stands firm on it and does not waiver. he approaches controversial issues head on.
i admire him. we love him.
i understand why he is going and have such a peace about it. according to everything i have heard, lynwood has gone through some rough times since brother mark left 8 years ago. the church is hurting. and God has called brother mark as the man to come and help with the healing of His church.
my sweet friend, ashley, is brother mark's oldest daughter. we say that she is the consolation prize. she and her husband, kurt, live here and will be staying - he is in residency in anesthesiology. please pray for ash as she will be without her parents (they are extremely close...). pray that she will have safe travels when she does go to missouri to see her family. and that she will have plenty of friends to support and hold her up when she needs us.
alyssa is the second child. she just graduated from jackson academy and will be going to mississippi state in the fall. pray for her during this transition - i can't imagine how hard it will be....madison feels like home, but mom and dad will be in missouri, but she's in school in starkville, but at least ashley is here...yada yada yada. just pray for alyssa.....
will is the third child. he just finished 9th grade and is such a good football player. not to mention a very talented guitar player! pray for him during this transition. the high school years are hard enough. now having to make new friends. pray that God will bless him will a wonderful group of new friends!
andrea is the youngest. she was 5 when the family moved here. i can remember her wearing her arkansas razorbacks t-shirts (a little tomboyish) and now she is all girly and too cute. the stage that she is in right now is the stage that ashley was in when they moved here from cape. what a blessing that ashley can help minister to her little sister during this time! pray for andrea. like will, pray that she will make friends easily. pray that she will like her new school.
pray for brother mark and mrs. karen. they are pretty much leaving mississippi with 2 of their girls. i can't imagine! pray for their house to sell quickly. we all know how the market is right now. this would just help their whole transistion. pray for them as they continue their ministry.
pray for colonial heights baptist church - our home church - as we search for the next man that God has planned for our church. God already knows who he is - we just have to wait on timing for him to be called. pray that during the interim, things will run smoothly...
pray for lynwood baptist church in cape girardeau, missouri. pray that through brother mark's ministry, this church will see wounds healed and will grow in ways that will cause everyone to see the Lord at work.
in brother mark's sermon this past sunday, he talked about how we need to be praying specifically so that God can answer specifically. i hope that i have given you some ways to pray - even if you don't know the people involved.
we will miss you - brother mark, mrs. karen, will, and andrea!
(i left ashley, kurt, and alyssa out since they'll be "down here" with us!)
