In Response to My Fellow Deltonian

junebug, my dear, let me respond to your oh so thoughtful blog post at once! i cannot believe that i didn't see it last night, but i was out with my "girlfriends" eating appetizers and playing dirty santa. not to mention learning way too much about some stuff. wow. don't even ask!

but anyway..........i will respond................her comments are in "quotes"..........my responses are below each "quote".

"It's funny to me how you can go for extended periods of time with no blogging and then you call me out after 6 days."
whateva. life's way too busy and i still have to sit in one little spot to even get on the internet at my house. no using our wireless router - no sir-ree. we gotta sit by the old clunker plugged in to every dang port and crevice to make things work. and still, if someone calls, it kicks me off and loses everything. doesn't make for a pleasant night at my house, you know?

"Today, I ate lunch at P.F. Chang's with a buncha girls."
are you trying to make me jealous? you get to have a nice lesiurely lunch and i have to shove whatever i have time for down my throat in 40 minutes. no chewing for us - nope - no time - gotta get something that will just slide on down!

" I do not enjoy Chinese, not in the least, but I wasn't paying and I knew the conversation would be good, so I went. Anyone reading this like Chinese?"
how nice - not paying. i would take you to lunch - if you can learn to swallow without chewing! and, for the record, i like chinese...

"If so, would you explain to me the merits of lettuce wraps over something like a big ole plate of cheese enchiladas or a chicken sandwich and french fries?! You like Chinese, Suzanne??"
ummmmmmmm..........i didn't particularly care for the lettuce wraps. i do like the harvest spring rolls, though, junebug. and invite you to get them for me whenever your little heart desires. and i think i answered the "do you like chinese" question above........

"Somewhere during the course of conversation, we started talking about the Delta."
good conversation...............

" I was sitting right beside Sharpie and, as you know, her hubby lived up there when he was a kid. He graduated from IA, I think, and he still has an affinity for the Delta."
yep - big daddy did graduate from IA. and i can understand having an affinity to the Delta. totally understand.

" Sharpie said she is going to the Alluvian soon for a day at the spa and I really started trying to figure out why such a hotel is in downtown you-know-where. You know, down the street from boarded up buildings and pawn shops. I'm just not sure I get it."
ummmmmmmmmmm.....................i can't say that i completely "get it", but i'm ever so thankful that the alluvian is there! i've been to the spa several times and already have more appointments scheduled. no offense if any of you readers (all 2 who may be reading this post) have favorite spas here, but nothing i've been to in jackson can remotely touch the spa at the alluvian. yes. it's THAT good. and i'm not just biased....

"Just don't get me wrong. I DO have good memories involving the Delta. I took Drivers Ed at PA during the summer with Coach Driscoll. The class lasted 3 days and then I drove to Winona on Thursday. Coach fell asleep on the way back. I got an A."
i also took driver's ed at PA. coach allsop (i don't even know if i spelled that right!?!?!?!) was my teacher. since i started driving when i was 7, he didn't have much fun with me - he wanted someone that he could pick on and i was too boring. so after driving 30 minutes, he put a friend of mine behind the wheel for the next few days and i slept. it was great.

"After I got my license, I spent the weekends cruising Park Avenue. Turning around at Scott-Tane and then McDonalds. Over and over again."
whew..............how times changed between when you OLD people "cruised park" and when us spring chicks did it. we turned around in the fred's parking lot, cruised around through sonic, and then turned around in cooper animal hospital.

"Wow, Suzanne...I'm sure there are more, but I really can't think of any. Maybe it's cause it's my new bedtime or maybe it's cause my brain is overworked after having studied all afternoon for 6th grade semester exams. Who knows. I'll just have to get back to you on the good memories."
i wish i had a "new" bedtime. does 10:30/11:00 count as early????? i'm exhausted. and i dread studying for exams.........especially 6th grade ones - - - - i think that included your mom.......aw man..............

"When are you gonna be up there for Christmas?? Maybe we should get together and you could show me the things you love so much and I could take you for a drive down Park. And we could roll the windows down and sing "iiiiiiiiiinnnnnn a Mississippi Cotton-pickin Delta town...one dusty street to walk up and down Nothing much to do but just hang around In a Mississippi Cotton-pickin Deeeltaaaa tooooown!" Or we could go eat at the Crystal."
you think i'm nuts enough to post the exact dates that i'm going to be gone away from my house? come on, junebug! i will, however, text you and if you want to take me on the "old timers" route of cruisining park, that's fine. and then i'll take you on my age group's route. we can compare! and eating at the crystal is a o.k. with me! just text - my phone's always on my hip!

"ps- The reason I don't like Chinese came from the Delta, but I'll have to tell you about that later."
there is a new chinese place in our Delta town. really good and clean. maybe i can talk you into trying it one day......

"pss- I spent $200 at the dentist today for JMatt's teeth and that was a good excuse for me to cancel my next appointment. If I DO have any cavities, I won't have any money to pay for them. So yay for me! Suzanne works for a dentist. Do yall know that???"
ummmmmmmmmmmmm..................................didn't jitterbug work at a dentist, too? geeeeezzzzzzzz..............now you're on me about my profession. between the Delta and the dentist, i can't get a break with you!!!!!

"Nighty-night, Suzanne. I hope you have a fabulous tomorrow!!!"
nighty-night, junebug................tomorrow will be fabulous - - - - - it's hump day and we're going to see "alvin and the chipmunks"!!!!!

You make me laugh, Suz. A bright spot in an otherwise boring day!!

And I think cruising your route would be a blast!!!

Yeah, I am just seriously afraid of the dentist...I promise, its nothing personal. I am a bad friend for even bringing that up.

And now that I think about it, we turned around in the Animal Hospital sometimes, too. Just depended on who was driving, I guess.

Also, I cannot believe you called me old. I am absolutely NOT old. Seriously.

And you just "think" Junebug's old. You wanna see old, come sit by me. But you can sit by me at PF Changs, cause I love it. But I don't get to go there for lunch. I had 1/2 a pimento cheese and 1/2 a peanut butter today, cause I couldn't decide between what Banana was having and what Kat had. And I ate it in the car on my way to the Annex.
