7 things about me....

ashley, are you shocked that this is finally getting done!!!! YEA!!! of course i'm not the most interesting person and don't know how long this will end up being, but i'm gonna do it anyway.

my sweet friend, ashley, tagged me last week and i am just now getting around to answering it. it's been one of those weeks. but i have survived! so here they are - in no particular order - 7 things about me that i don't mind my blogging friends to know. oh boy.......

1. I AM AN ONLY CHILD. o.k. so many of you may already know this - but some may not. and some may also not know that tommy is an only child. yep - you're right....this makes for some interesting ordeals in our house. but that's o.k. we work through it.

2. I AM PROUD OF THE FACT THAT I AM FROM THE DELTA. i was one of the ones who said i would never go back. never. period. then i moved to jackson. don't get me wrong...some of my closest friends have crossed my path strictly because God put me in jackson. but if given the chance, i would move back to greenwood/minter city tomorrow. i love hearing dixie or down home or back where i come from or who say's you can't go home. i can close my eyes and see those fields around my home.

3. I WANTED TO BE AN ASTRONAUT GROWING UP. and decided this when i was in the 2nd grade. it was so intriguing to me. but the older i got, i decided that aerospace engineering might kick my tail, so i thought i might go to delta state and study to be a commercial pilot. then i started high school and really got into biology. i was fortunate enough to have the most incredible biology teacher - mrs. dorothy duncan walcott - and she was my sole encourager to think about something healthcare related. i am still glad that she did that. but i do want to get my pilot's license someday.

4. I LOVE BEING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS. i mean home in the delta. in the same room that was my nursery when i was brought home from the hospital. waking up and going into the same den that i did as a little girl to see what santa brought. and i love that my husband loves this, too. and my sweet mary peyton is being able to do the same thing. my daddy's farm is our refuge. it's where we can go and get away from everything and everybody and just be us. life slows down. 4-wheelers can be driven. and we can just be.

5. I ONLY WANT TO HAVE 1 CHILD. ooooohhhhhhhh. so how many of you are sitting there saying "no.....they have to have another one.......". well. no. tommy and i had talked about this before we married and still feel the same way. but you've got to understand that to us, a family IS 3 people. so in our minds, our family is complete. now don't get me wrong - if God chose for us to have another baby, we would be o.k. - i mean, you'd have me blogging from whitfield, but we'd be o.k. but it is so not our desire to have more than one.

6. I LOVE JEWELRY. wow. big surprise, huh? i like to have nice stuff, too. not that it has to cost a fortune, but if i'm going to have something, i'd rather have something nice that cost $x than to have a dozen little things that add up to the same amount, you know?

7. I LOVE OUR CHURCH - COLONIAL HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH. and i truly think that that is one of the biggest things that i will miss when we move to the delta. we've even talked about driving back at least once a month if we can whenever "the move" takes place. i just feel that God has blessed not only us, but our community as a whole with our church. of course i am a little biased. but i do feel like we are a light in a dark world. and our pastor is awesome! when he came, in one of his first sermons he talked football. it caught mine and tommy's attention immediately. he talked about how chief oseola (at florida state) spears the ground before each game claiming that playing field for florida state and how he was throwing down his spear in jackson and claiming the metro area for Christ. awesome.

gotta add it:
8. I LOVE GOING TO SPORTING EVENTS WITH MY FAMILY - OLE MISS OR JA OR PILLOW! growing up, i was a mississippi state fan. i married into a huge ole miss family. needless to say, they won out. before tommy and i even started REALLY dating, he told me he wanted me to go to some ole miss games with him. i said that was great, but i didn't have tickets with them and i wasn't sitting by myself. he said that he had already gotten me season tickets with his. wow. since then, we have been to numerous ballgames and made tons of memories that i wouldn't change for anything. and now our little girl is already loving all of it (read the post below). like brother mark said at tommy's dad's funeral.....some people think of the money spent at ballgames and sporting events as a waste. but we wouldn't trade anything for the family time spent together tailgating and going to ballgames and the memories made doing so.

so that's it - my 7 (oops - 8) things. there are more, but these are just a few. sorry that they're so long. i admire any of you who read it all!

I didn't know about you wanting to get your pilots license so I learned something new :)

I understand how you feel about the farm-that is how I felt about my Granny's house.
