surprised you all, didn't i.....

bet you didn't expect to see a blog post from me, did you? but i said that i wouldn't post from the computer at my house. and i'm not. we are at home - in the Delta. and i'm on daddy's computer. and it works! such a nice change from the one i'm used to.

sad event of the week.........mary katherine, you can relate to this somewhat........our 6 1/2 year old black lab, ELI, was run over last saturday. we had brought him up to my daddy's last thanksgiving so that he could have more room to run around, etc. he loved it up here. well, daddy went to memphis last weekend and my cell phone rang. he said that his cousin had called to tell him that eli was run over out on the road. now i had to tell tommy - and he was on a plane coming back from california (i am going to post about california soon - maybe tomorrow!). great. i played it in my mind, "WELCOME HOME!!! so glad you're back!!! by the way....eli is gone." i chose to just go ahead and call and tell him in between flights. that way i didn't have to cry as hard face to face. but it's still hard. eli was our first baby.

so we've had a busy week. monday night was my bunko, tuesday was the JA carnival, wednesday was church, thursday was chasity's bunko that i subbed for. thursday i had to get 4 cakes baked (2 before bunko and 2 after), then got up friday morning to bake another one. as soon as it came out of the oven, mary peyton and i left to go to greenwood. we went by the courthouse to see my mom (she works for the chancery clerk), then went to key & t.c.'s before going to meet mama for lunch at mai little china. gotta love chinese buffets. after that, i helped key get ready for the pep rally (pillow was playing their last home game and it's always a fun pep rally.....plus we played prep really close later that night....too bad i couldn't stay and watch). i will post pictures of key dressed up like stella at some point. after the pep rally, we went to jill's. mary peyton slept in the car (don't worry.......i left it running), and i went in to visit. then we drove back home, i baked another cake, decorated 4 and went to bed. got up this morning, decorated the last one - a 2 tiered that was for today; delivered 3 cakes; gave a shower for chasity at bon ami (with katrice); went to the autumn tour of homes with roseann; packed; came home; and went to clarksdale to eat bar-b-que at abe's. now we're home and i'm about to pass out.

since i can't post pictures, i'll just write it. mary peyton is a chicken for the fall festival this year. and let me add that she is the cutest dang chicken you'll ever see. i got the costume last year at old navy for $5. and she LOVES it. she wore it to the JA carnival tuesday night and it was a fight to get it off of her so that we could wash it up to wear again! of course the cutest thing is hearing her say "bock bock bock" while having her little hands under her pits and flapping her arms like a chicken. priceless.

ummmmm.......can't think of much more to say right now. i have made some CUTE cakes. maybe one day i can update my cake blog, too!

hope you all have a great weekend. i'm just going to soak in the Delta.
