may...a rough month. literally

may was a great month...mother's day, mary peyton's birthday, mary key's birthday, vacation, etc. but it was also our roughest yet. guess it's all just part of the "growing up" process. but man. it wore me out! i won't say a lot here...each picture is described below it.



this was at the very first of the month. happened on our back patio. and yes, right before pictures. isn't that lovely. may i note that while it was not her daddy's fault, it did happen on daddy's watch! he took her outside to play, but decided to pour gas on some ants (which meant that they needed to come back in because she wanted to see what he had done). when he told her to come on, she turned to run the other way, tripped, and fell. bless her heart.

this is the sign i had to see the saturday night before mother's day...our first trip to the E.R.

we had gone to see the new sheriff's office in greenwood. well, earlier that day, mary peyton had gotten some new sandals (not TOO too big, but just a little) and HAD to wear them. she was running down the hall, tripped, and fell on the tile floor. INSTANTLY, let me emphasize that - INSTANTLY - a knot came up on her head - right above her right eye. and it kept coming. and kept coming. until it was literally about the size of a golf ball. i know that is hard to imagine - it's hard for me to remember. but at the time, tommy and i said that we would decide what it was closest to in size so that we wouldn't forget. we rushed her to the E.R. where they talked about doing a ct scan. yep - i was a little frantic. but they ended up doing 4 head x-rays instead. still wasn't fun... by the way - this picture is AFTER we came out of the hospital.

this is the knot about 2 1/2 hours after it happened. the picture doesn't do justice to how far it was "poking" out. the swelling went across to the left eyebrow and down the bridge of her nose. we were scared - but thought for sure - she was going to have a black eye. i did take a picture of the knot at it's worse - in the E.R. - but it is on my phone. i was way too frantic to grab my camera while trying to run in the hospital!

OH - a cute little side story....on our way FLYING to the hospital, mary peyton is in the back seat (crying) with my mom trying to put ice on her head. tommy sneezes. mary peyton sniffles and says, "bess you, daddy". her l's don't come out yet. of course her being so sweet while she was hurting melted my heart and made me cry more.

our final trip to the doctor for may. ON HER BIRTHDAY. how bad does that stink? she was a little fussy after her party and felt warm. when we checked her temp, it had gone up to 101 (we checked it a few times). so off we go to the after hours clinic. keep in mind that we left for vacation the day after her birthday, so we were a nervous wreck that she was going to have something that would keep us home. anyway........blood work, etc., etc. oh and don't let me leave out that her temp when we got there was 102.1 - which the nurse let us know was the highest temp they had seen all day. thanks for the reassurance.

anyway.......she had tubes put in her ears last april and one of them has developed a "plug". ear drops, antibiotics, cough medicine, confirmation that we could go on vacation!
