Where we were...

This is where the "fun" took place! Who ever even knew that Merigold was big enough for a town hall!?!

The famous bag that you WANT to come home with from Merigold. If you get a present and the wrapping looks like this, then you've got something good! These are the bags that McCarty bags their pottery up in when you buy it (only at the store - not at the 2nds sale!). If I remember right, they used to actually write these back behind the checkout desk. Now they appear printed. Guess that's the price you pay for fame...

This is us outside of McCarty's with our "famous bags". Behind us you can see the bamboo that completely covers the front entrance - except for the little walkway that we are on.

We headed north just a few miles on Saturday to Mound Bayou. Take a minute and read the sign. We were definately in the minority in this town.

And here is the sack that you would hope to come away with from Mound Bayou! Peter actually worked for the McCarty's until he decided to start his own pottery. Not sure what happened to cause the "split", but he is doing pretty well! I can remember when I was young going to McCarty's and Peter was the one behind the desk checking people out, etc.

This picture is of Dana and me with Peter and his brother. Peter is in the grey. I know that they thought we were the craziest white women they had ever seen when we came running back in the store (we had already checked out) and asked them to take a picture with us! Hey, we were having fun and it was our Pottery Weekend!
