The picture above is of me and my Grandaddy. Today would have been his 88th birthday. He passed away in December 2002 from complications from a brain aneurysm. There is still not a time that I go home to Minter City that I do not miss him. My Great-Grandfather, Edgar Butler Smith, Sr., moved his family to our farm when Grandaddy was about the age I was in this picture. My Daddy still farms that same land today. It is so neat to know that I grew up right where Grandaddy and Daddy both did. I just wish Mary Peyton had the opportunity to know just how deep her roots go out there. Growing up, I always thought that I would want to move off. And now, if you know me much at all, you know that I can't wait to one day move back home. Happy Birthday, Grandaddy. I love you so much and miss you more.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then He said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'"
Revelation 21:4-5 NIV
