Football, Mama!

Does she not look precious in this little picture!?! This was taken at the Egg Bowl last year and is one of my favorite pictures of Mary Peyton. Most people know this, but....we started taking her to games at Ole Miss in September 2005 (she was born in May). That worked out well, so we decided last fall to continue taking her. She LOVES the games! She will watch the 1st and 4th quarters and then sleeps in the middle. Hey, works for me!

My sweet baby girl loves football. We were at Abner's with some friends a few weeks ago and she instantly looked up on the wall, grabbed my arm, and said "Mama!! Fooshball!!". This was followed by talking about the football (a.k.a. hut hut) and doing the "pom pom" (shaking your hand like you have a pom pom in it).

Another cute - and quick - story. I was gone to Bunko one night and Tommy had Mary Peyton in the bed with him. She started looking around saying "football, Daddy!". Tommy kept telling her that there was not a football around. She persisted (head strong like her Mama!). Finally, she pointed to the edge of a book - the Manning book - which has a little picture of Peyton on the side of it. Yep, she's eat up with football like the rest of us. Thank goodness. Othewise life would be hard during the Fall!

The sport part of football isn't the only thing she loves. Mary Peyton loves band music. I don't think she can distinguish between schools, but as long as band music is on, she's good. Someone recorded the pre-game Grove pep rally and posted it on You Tube (www.youtube.com). We go to this often, usually at the request of Mary Peyton for "the webuls".

I was worried that football would be her only love, but she enjoyed basketball games for the past 2 weekends, so maybe we're good.

I've decided that the good thing about all of this is that she will make some man real happy one day. He won't have to beg his wife to go to games or worry that he can't watch them. She'll be more than happy to buy the tickets or turn on the t.v.!
