a new toy!!!

i've had a few gifts in my recent years that have made me cry.

a few years ago, tommy and mary peyton gave me a very unexpected Christmas present - a print of a watercolor painting of Greenwood by one of my favorite artists, Wyatt Watters. i cried. seriously. the picture below is not the one of greenwood, but it is of the next best place - - - oxford!

why?

because i never get "real" surprises. you know - the ones that someone gets you because they've truly listened and know how bad you would like to have something.

earlier this year, my sweet cousin, roseann, surprised me with this:

she and i were at barnes & noble one day when i commented how bad i wanted it. a few weeks later (and after i had forgotten about it), roseann told me she had a happy for me! it really meant so much!

so fast forward to this past thursday. dr carter and dr sledge (his daughter who finished dental school and is now in practice with us) took us to babalu for a team lunch. they said they had some surprises for us, but we had no idea what it was.

after we ordered and were waiting on our food (which was AWESOME, by the way - if you go, the tamales are SO good!), dr carter came to our end of the table (there were 10 of us and he was on the other end) and started talking...

they have decided to celebrate our "work" anniversaries. brittany and payton have been with our office for 2 years. they got gift cards for spa services at DRENCH (another by the way - if you have not heard of drench or have heard but haven't been there, GO! it is a new spa on jackson street in ridgeland and is AWESOME!).

then dr carter said, "well, we missed suzanne's 2 year, 5 year, and 7 year gifts, so this is a make up!" (i've been with dr carter's office fo 8 1/2 years)

then i opened this:

ya'll, i'll be honest. i cried.

yep - right there in babalu.

and then dr carter started crying.

i was completely shocked! i sent a picture of it to tommy and he didn't believe me. so much so that i had to give cat - i mean dr sledge - the phone and let her tell him! it is so good to know you are appreciated and to work in an office that will tell you so!

SO - i need your help. do you have any ipad apps that you like? cat told me that she uses blogsy to blog from her ipad and likes it. any other suggestions???
