there is a day coming that i'm dreading. bear with me - i'm just being very honest here.....
most people who read my blog know that i'm a registered dental hygienist. and if you didn't, well now you do!
yes, we have the big first day of first grade coming up in august. which will mean an end to my friday lunch dates with my favorite girl. which completely breaks my heart in two.
BUT - aside from that - we also have the day that she loses her first tooth.
~GASP~
ya'll, it's coming - i think - before the first day of first grade.
WHERE IN THE WORLD HAS TIME GONE!?!?!
now i know that, truthfully, she is "late" losing teeth. most all of her friends have lost at least one, if not more, teeth already and she's feeling kinda left out. me? i like being left out - especially in this matter!
I DREAD IT.
i remember the day that first little pearly white came through. november 19, 2005. we knew it was coming, but didn't realize it had made an appearance until we got to lamb's and andrew started taking her pictures!
and now - 5 1/2 years later, it is getting ready to go.
~UGH!~
we will begin to enter the "ugly duckling" stage. yes - that's what we called it in dental hygiene school. and i'm almost 100% sure that it was even in our textbook. seriously. it just refers that that oh so awkward stage when kids are losing teeth and growing teeth. those huge -compared to their cute little teeth - crazy looking teeth. oh yeah - the ones you and i still have! but somehow they don't look ridiculous in our mouths!
i've tried to explain to mary peyton that it is good for you to be late losing teeth. it allows you to learn more about how to care for your teeth - brushing, flossing, etc - before the permanent ones that you will (hopefully) have forever come in! so at least when they come in, you're a pro at oral hygiene!
with this big milestone coming, up, though, i decided it was time for the tooth fairy to send us a tooth fairy pillow!

i want this to be a big fun deal for mary peyton - and for me and tommy! i've got to think of a name for our fairy - let me know if you have suggestions! and i want her to leave notes, little sprinkles of glitter, etc. when she visits!
i've been searching for just the right pillow for quite some time. i started looking last fall (hey - i told you this was a big deal for me!) and found some i loved, but then just never could commit to one. i've been all over the internet and especially etsy. i found several precious pillows, but ultimately chose one!

i talked to our nameless tooth fairy and she thought that this one was perfect for mary peyton, too. we wanted something with a vintage feel that can be passed down. yes - i'm that sentimental. this little now-pillow had once been a pretty hanky. isn't it precious!?!
so here it is! stay tuned for the next step in this little pillow's journey!
(but i hope it's not TOO soon!)
