mary did you know?

this year mary peyton was chosen to be mary for her class Christmas program. she was so excited and could not wait for "her" day. her sweet little friend, samuel, was joseph. mary peyton has been smitten with him since the beginning of school and his mom says that he's smitten as well. how cute!

mary peyton's Christmas programs at JA amaze me. the amount of poems, songs, etc., that the teachers teach these children is remarkable. it makes me wonder how they fit everything into 3 hours a day! honestly!

but this year's program had something different that absolutely touched me and, as mary peyton and i say, made my heart big. at one point of the program, the entire class quoted luke 2. here it is in mary peyton's words.....

"mary and joseph went to bethlehem to be taxed. while they were there, the time came for mary to have her baby. and she gave birth to her first born son. she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, lying him in a manger. because there was no room for them in the inn. that night some shepherds were in the field guarding their sheep. suddenly an angel appeared and the light shined bright and the shepherds were so afraid. "don't be afraid" said the angel. i bring you glad tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. the Lord our Savior has been born tonight in bethlehem. you will find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger. glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace goodwill to men."

to hear a room of 5 and 6 year olds reciting this was so touching!!!

i'm going to try to do a better job blogging.....it's hard to believe that Christmas is only a week from today! we will be busy this week putting final touches on our plans and making a cake for Jesus' birthday!
