it is hard for me to commit to something in my house. i want to make SURE it's just the right thing before i buy it, hang it, etc. this goes for pictures, furniture, and - sadly - curtains.
BUT....nearly 2 years ago, i found the fabric that i wanted for the living room. i had been saving and putting money back so that when i saw "it", i could get "it"! and i did. i also got the fabric for the kitchen, but i'm still looking for exactly the type of window treatment i want in there!
this year i got the fabric to a sweet lady who lives in a neighborhood down the road. she is SO reasonable (let me know if you live in the madison area and need her info!) and was unbelievably patient with me! she made the panel and then we decided to add the fringe to it.
are you kidding? i had to make ANOTHER commitment? good grief!
anyway - yesterday i went over to our neighbor's house to borrow a ladder (tommy left our tall ladder at our church when we had mp's birthday party...) and even bought an electric screwdriver at wal-mart! some of you know tommy and know that he isn't quite the handy man, so i knew the project of hanging this would be all on me. in his defense - he did help by handing me everything i needed while i was up on the ladder.

i should have taken a picture of the whole room before and after - it really does change the look. and you can't really tell in the picture, but the fabric has horses on it (with riders on the horses, too). i love it! oh - and one of my favorite things? the little green tie-back that is on it i got at an estate sale! actually, i got a bag of 3 or 4 for $1!!!when i get the kitchen window treatments done, i'll post a picture! oh - and the title "after almost 6 years" is because we have lived here almost 6 years and that's how long it took me to get this one little thing done :-/
