i told people i would never live in the Delta (now i'd give ANYTHING to be back!), then during hygiene school i told some friends (especially mrs berry) that i would never live in the jackson area (and i wouldn't except that i met tommy ONE MONTH before graduation!). i also said that i would never marry an only child and would never marry a banker! well, we all know how that worked out.
i married an only child who is a banker and we live in madison.
several of my "never say nevers" have been about my feet. bear with me.....
in high school, people started wearing birkenstocks. "i will NEVER wear these! they are HORRIBLE!!!"
i'll go ahead and say that eating those words wasn't that bad because i got a pair of birkenstocks like the ones below and my feet loved me for it!

but they were so good that when it got to be winter, i needed another pair. this was either my senior year of high school or freshman year of college. my mom bought me these:

and i still wear them now! yes, over 10 years later, my birkenstocks (both pair) have held the test of time and a lot of wear and are still some of the most comfortable shoes that i own. hands down.
well, a few years ago, uggs came out. i told tommy that they were just that - ugg-ly. and "i will NEVER wear those!" came out of my mouth. i know it did. however, my friend brittany has several pair of these shoes, so one day she told me to just try one of hers on.
oh. my. goodness.
can i just tell you how comfortable they were??? i thought about eating my words, but decided not to. i was in target and they had a pair of ugg look alikes, so i thought i'd spend $25 to see if i even liked the feel of the boot instead of the $100+ price of the "real" thing.
yep. i fell in love. and tommy noticed.
so on Christmas, i opened these:

and they've hardly come off of my feet yet!
so you'd think i would have learned my lesson by now, but i'm sure that i'll say "i'll never....." at some point again - and i'll get to eat those words, too....
