mary peyton is kinda smitten with ryan, too. she calls him ryan "scooby" because no matter what i try, she can't say goolsby. it's pretty cute now, though. at church he will smile to her and she just gets shy, grins, and runs so he will chase her. she did the same thing last night after the game. after she sat in his mom's lap the whole game.
anyway, here is a picture - but it's from last year. he's fun to watch! and has the sweetest family!

as we were leaving, mrs vicky gave mary peyton the rose that ryan gave her during the "senior night" presentation. mary peyton's face lit up as we walked away - she said, "oh mommy! this is from ryan scooby and we have to save it!" so now it's in a vase in the kitchen!
another funny thing - mr jerry and mrs vicky rode past us as we were walking to our car....mary peyton looked at me and said - as serious as she could be - "mommy, is ryan scooby riding home with his sister right there?" (pointing to mr jerry's truck). i then had to explain that mrs vicky was his MOM - not his sister (even though she does look very good!)
so the other boy......
our church has decided to have people in the church "adopt" or "sponsor" a college student. i asked tommy who he wanted to sponsor as far as a boy or girl. our student minister was at the game, too, and told us some guys who were "eligible" to be sponsored. tommy chose tyler goolsby - ryan's older brother who is at ole miss.
by sponsoring him, we are going to help get care packages together periodically, pray for him daily, text/email/etc to encourage him, and - since he is in oxford at ole miss - we'll drop in when we're in town! let them know that just because they are off at college doesn't mean that they are forgotten. let them know we miss them in church!
it's really pretty easy. our lifegroup (sunday school) teacher challenged us to invest in one of our youth. to be a mentor to them. granted, i think he was talking about someone in our student ministry now, but they had something in the bulletin for weeks about sponsoring a college student.
SO - i talked to the student minister and asked if many had been adopted. he said no! he said that actually we were only the 2nd couple/person to adopt someone.
o.k., guys. you know if you go to church with me....i challenge you to invest in one of these students. it's more rewarding to you than you know....and they appreciate it so much that someone - other than mom/dad/siblings/craig - cares enough about them to take time out to invest in them!
so tommy has already told craig (our student minister) that next year when ryan goes to college, he wants to "sponsor" him, too. i guess tommy just thinks that if we keep focus on one family, we might can do more - i don't know. so i guess the goolsby boys are just doomed to have us.....
have a great wednesday night! so glad tomorrow is MY friday!!!!!
