yesterday i was sitting in the den working on an arrangement for my front door (be watching for pictures soon!) when kim sent me a text. we started talking some (via text) and started talking about jeremy.
well, a little history for you. kim's husband, rob, played football at samford when they first married. a friend of his is the equipment manager.
so back to my original story....kim says in a text that rob's friend said that coach sullivan took the e-mail to jeremy and his family. tonight we saw rob/kim/bryce at newk's and we talked about it again. he said that his friend was actually WITH coach sullivan when he took the e-mail to jeremy! and that jeremy was touched that she (mary peyton) cared so much.
i decided that i would e-mail coach sullivan again in a week or so to check on jeremy - i don't want to bombard him!
BUT!
tonight i'm on facebook talking to my sister-in-law, kate, and just flipped back to my hotmail to see if i had any new e-mails.
there it was - an e-mail from jeremy richardson!
so here's what he said....
"Hi The Barnette Family and especially little Mary,
I hope this e-mail finds you all in great spirit and good health. I am Jeremy Richardson #26 football player for Samford University who got injured on Sept. 13, game against Ole Miss. I received your e-mail and am so sorry it took me some time to respond. I want you all to know that I read this e-mail over and over again, thinking about the power of prayer from a little angel, Mary, which indeed is a holy name. I am so glad you Mrs. Suzanne took the time to send this e-mail of concern and Christian love. It touched my heart and brought tears of joy to know that Mary prayed for me in a time of need. I pray that your husband continues to recover from his knee surgery. As of now I am still recovering with pain, but each day is better than the day before. I am at home for a moment and will be returning back to Samford in a few days. I just needed to go home for a moment to regroup. I have been in therapy while my stay in the hospital and I am still in out patient rehab while at home. When I return to Samford I will continue rehab at Champion and at school with a great group of trainers. I tell you this has been something to deal with but because of people like you, my family, the support I get from Samford staff and most of all my faith in God - I know this all shall pass and I will be back 100% doing what I like, playing football, smile.
Please, Mary keep me in your prayers. Mary I know you will go beyond what eyes can see because God's hand is upon your life and greatest is yours. Once again thanks for everything, for its the simple but geniune things that really matter. Maybe we will get a chance to meet...
Keep in touch!!!
Jeremy Richardson #26 Samford Football Team"
um - ya'll - i cried. and i read it again - and cried some more. i'm pretty sure that tommy was teared up beside me - he was so excited when i told him of the e-mail. and mary peyton just sat wide eyed listening as i tried to read it.
so, i ask again, please say a prayer for jeremy. pray that he will continue to be strengthened - not only his right leg, but emotionally as well. pray for peace of mind. pray for his family as they minister to him. and for his samford family as they offer the support that he will need in the days and months ahead when he is able to return to school.
i will keep you posted!
