we are in the process of making mary peyton's room a "big girl" room. yes, i know. we're a little late on this. but before i'm crucified, let me explain.
about a year ago - o.k. more than a year ago (june 5, 2007 to be exact) - WE put mary peyton in the bed with us. our decision.
that night, she decided to throw her paci away. on her own. so when she did, i took the leap and put ALL of the pacis up - hidden from her AND her daddy (because if she started crying for them, there's no way he couldn't give her one!).
well - because we had weaned her off of her thumb and onto the paci, i didn't want her to immediately go back to her thumb, you know? yes, the hygienist in me was coming out. (and for the record, she does try to suck her thumb - but only in secret and never around us - i saw a picture katrice took of her at JA. maybe it's a security thing??? i don't care as long as it isn't an all the time thing and it doesn't mess up her teeth!!!!!).
so.....
we did it.
we put her in the bed with us. just one night. it won't hurt anything.
um - here we are 15 months later with her still in the bed. but along the way, we haven't tried to move her. we both will testify that we love how she snuggles. i know. i know. all of you reading, quit rolling your eyes.
so anyway - because she's been in the bed with us, we really haven't focused or thought about her room much. i mean - it's where her clothes are - as well as all of her other stuff - but we still have a baby bed (MY baby bed at that) in there.
pitiful. i know.
BUT, we're starting to change her "nursery" into a "big girl" room. i've got the paint color picked out (a pretty pale blue) and the fabric for the valance and a big pillow for her bed. we have her bed, but it's up in the delta. it is a twin bed that was in our parsonage. key bought the bedroom suit when mary key was little, but they only used 1 of the beds. we're getting the other one. it's going to be painted and distressed. i can't wait.
so anyway, when we put the new chest of drawers in her room (the one i got at the antique auction, remember?), i got all sad and took a picture of her on her changing table for the last time. well, i wanted ya'll to see before's and after's.

She is going to have the sweetest little room ever. You can have a ribbon cutting and everything and she will feel so special going in there to her "big girl" room.
The piece looks awesome!!
how do you put "they're updating" on my blog?
