Bring it on...

o.k. I AM READY.

my 20's have not all been bad, but i am ready to start with a fresh "0".

i only have about another 2 1/2 hours to be 29 years old. and i'm spending it doing what i seem to do well...baking and decorating cakes. go figure!

but really.....i was talking with a patient the other day and we discussed the "numbers" of my 20's. you know.....how many of this and how many of that. so i thought i would share some with you!
2 - number of times i was engaged
(if you don't know about this, we'll have to talk later)
2 - number of apartments i lived in
2 - number of houses that i/we have owned
2 - college degrees that i obtained
(a.a. and b.s. degrees in dental hygiene)
3 - cruises that i have been on
6 - cars that i have had
(this blew my mind, too. another one that will have it's own post for an explanation)
1 - wedding
6 - years that i have been married
1 - pregnancy (resulting in my sweet mary peyton)
3 - different offices that i have worked at in my 20's
countless - hours spent at barnes & noble drinking coffee & looking at magazines
numerous - football & basketball games attended

from this list, some of the following comes. i also did a "run down" of pros/cons from my 20's.
pros:
~graduated from college
~passed national and state board exams
~got married
~had mary peyton
cons:
~breakup of an engagement
(even though it did end up being so much more for the better and we are still friends....at the time it was devastating)
~mam-maw passed away
~grandaddy passed away
~billy passed away
~my parents divorced

the more i think about this list, the more things that i think of that i could add to it. but i am so grateful for the 30 years that i have had and am ready for tomorrow!!!

as mary peyton would sing it,
"HACKLE BIRDAY TO DU"

I had so many mixed emotions leaving my twenties... Like you, I experienced so many important milestones and memories, but also experienced many struggles and trials. Thirty seems truly "grown-up" somehow, and I guess there's a part of all of us that wants to put that off as long as possible! Happy Birthday!!!

Turning 30 wasn't so bad to me. For some crazy reason 31 bothered me a lot more. But, here I am about to be 32 and it hasn't killed me yet. :) I do feel very "grown up" as April said. Anyway, I hope you have a great birthday.
