monday was my mother-in-law's birthday. in my perfect world (ha), i had planned to do this post LATE last sunday night so that it would be up monday morning. then, sunday night as i lay in bed, i told tommy i had not done it yet. we decided that i could get it done on monday morning - bright and early. yea right. so then monday night came along and it didn't get done. tuesday night was bunko, wednesday was church then wal-mart, thursday was the pajama party, friday was baking cakes til the wee hours, saturday was - well, that's a whole 'nother post - and so now it's sunday...one week AFTER i originally planned to post.
i won't say how old she is...so let me go ahead and get that out. i was fortunate enough to marry her only child - even though i vowed growing up that i would not marry an only child (being one myself). when i came into the picture, our family had no idea the heartaches and road that God was about to take us down. a little over a month after tommy and i started dating, his dad was diagnosed with lung...liver...and colon cancer. he fought the battle for almost 3 years. during that time, i had to watch linda (and tommy) go through something harder than i can ever imagine.
linda and i - from the beginning - were very close. we shopped, drank coffee, etc., all of the time. until she changed jobs, we had a weekly lunch - fridays at bon ami. and when mary peyton came along, she joined us. our waiter/waitress got to where they didn't even ask what we wanted....it was "your usual?". and they knew to bring mary peyton a cup of fruit - cut up finer than usual!
she is without a doubt the most giving person i have ever met. she and my late father-in-law have done more things for people than i can fathom. this is why God continued and continues to bless them/her.
i could go on and tell stories, but....go figure...i've got a cake to decorate before church!
so happy late birhday, linda/granny! we are so blessed to have you in our life! we love you!
